Why PAPT was made

This website was made to try and combat issues commonly found with remote physical therapy. The main objective was to create a free physical therapy program for people who cannot afford the technology being offered by offices. While researching we found one of the cons of remote physical therapy to be "dealing with finicky technology". Other issues reported include: lack of manual therapy, difficult initial evaluations, challenges seeing the “full picture” of how the body is moving on screen and that it is not a viable option for every injury. PAPT's goal is to continue to try and combat these issues and we're making huge progress!

While most aspects of a telehealth visit aren’t too different from an in-person visit, PTs have to navigate a few unique challenges due to the traditionally hands-on nature of their care. As WebPT’s Director of Product Management Scott Hebert, DPT, explained during a recent telehealth webinar, “For manual therapists out there who like to get their hands on a patient, this does take some learning. Ultimately, your creativity is what’s going to help you here. "
